Hand-carved Balinese statues. Depicting a bridal couple "Loro Blonyo". Probably from the beginning or middle of the 20th century. The polychrome has faded but is still visible. The statues are in very good condition and have a beautiful patina. The name is derived from the Javanese words Loro which means 2 and Blonyo which means make-up. The lady symbolizes the Goddess of fertility, the man is the realization of the Lord: Vishnu. Both images together are viewed as one image and are the symbol of fertility and prosperity. The myth says that the statue can determine the longevity and prosperity of the family that owns it.
